Whitewater Canal Trail
Following a historic canal route through Indiana’s Whitewater River Valley, this trail offers undisturbed views of aqueducts, locks and wildlife.
Six of the Whitewater Canal Trail’s proposed 14 miles are open, allowing visitors to bike, hike and unwind while enjoying rich scenery and diverse wildlife in the quiet countryside. From the Metamora Trailhead, the trail extends through downtown Metamora past Duck Creek Aqueduct to the Twin Locks. To the east, the Yellow Bank Trailhead marks the start of a shorter trail that passes a number of historical features, like an old ice-harvesting pond and what’s left of the Yellow Bank Lock.
The proposed route will continue on to Tecumseh Landing in Brookville, at the banks of the scenic Whitewater River.
