Smiles for miles in Hamilton, Ohio!

Friday, May 5, 2023 by Caitlin Sparks

On Saturday, April 29, Tri-State Trails and over 50 advocates visited the City of Hamilton to tour the newly expanded Great Miami River Trail and Hamilton Beltline trail. We were graced with nice weather, great food and beer, and comradery!

Starting from Municipal Brew Works in downtown, bicyclists rode to MetroParks of Butler County’s Timberhill Area, where the Great Miami River Trail was extended to in 2022. We showcased how MetroParks is working to close last remaining unfunded gap in the Great Miami River Trail in Butler County from Timberhill to Monroe’s Bicentennial Commons Park. Two other trail connections are funded to extend the GMRT south from Trenton through Monroe in the next couple years.

Walkers departed a different route to experience the new and future route of the Beltline trail on Hamilton’s west side. The Beltline was recently extended near the Spooky Nook Sports Champion Mill site. The City of Hamilton was recently awarded funding from Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Clean Ohio Trails Fund to connect the trail to Spooky Nook, and future plans are in motion to extend the trail farther northwest as well.

Thank you to our sponsors of the Spring Trail Adventure: City of Hamilton, MetroParks of Butler County, and Great Miami River Way.

Save these dates to join in on the fun at one of Tri-State Trails’ future adventures:

  • Breakfast on the Bridge on the Purple People Bridge – May 19, 2023
  • Tour de CROWN, starting from Fifty West Brewing Company – August 26, 2023
  • Fall Trail Adventure & Annual Meeting, starting from the Countryside YMCA – November 18, 2023
