Tour de CROWN 2025: Rider Guide

Tuesday, July 22, 2025 by Caitlin Sparks

The 2025 Tour de CROWN is just around the corner—happening Saturday, August 23—and we can’t wait to ride with you! Whether this is your first community ride or you’ve been with us since the beginning, now is the perfect time to start getting ready so you can enjoy a smooth, safe, and fun ride on event day. Haven’t registered yet? Register today to secure your spot and save—registration prices increase on August 1 (Last Call Price) and again from August 18–23 (Ride Week Price).

Make Sure Your Bike is in Great Shape

Before you roll out, give your bike some TLC! Check your tires for wear, make sure your brakes work properly, and test your gears. Not sure where to start? Visit your local bike shop for a quick tune-up or safety check. We also recommend carrying a few essentials:

  • A spare tube that fits your tires
  • A mini-pump or CO2 cartridge
  • Tire levers and a multi-tool

Pack Smart for the Ride

We’ll have complementary bananas and Deeper Roots Coffee at the start line to get your day rolling right, but once you’re on the trail, it’s important to stay fueled and hydrated. Our rest stops are designed mostly for water refills, with limited snacks available—so pack a snack or two that you can easily eat while riding or during a quick break.

Great things to stash in your bag or jersey pocket:

  • Trail mix or energy bars
  • Electrolyte tablets or chews
  • Two filled water bottles

Dress for Comfort + Safety

August will bring the heat, so wear lightweight, breathable clothing that works well for outdoor activity. Don’t forget:

  • Well-fitted helmet (required)
  • Sunscreen (apply before the ride and bring extra)
  • Sunglasses
  • Consider padded shorts, cycling gloves, or whatever gear keeps you comfortable over longer distances

Get to Know Your Route

No matter which ride you choose, it’s important to know your route and ride time in advance. All routes have staggered start times, so please arrive early—registration opens at 7:00 AM at Fifty West Brewing Company.

All rides will depart from the Fifty West Beer Garden—a change from 2024 when we started in the parking lot. Look for signage and volunteers to guide you to the new starting area.

Our Tour de CROWN ride leaders will guide pace groups and help with navigation, and all routes are marked with color-coded arrows to keep you on course:

  • Yellow for the 34-mile ride
  • Pink for the 17.5-mile ride

Explore your route below and pick the ride that fits your style:

  • The Great Parks Full CROWN (35.2 mi) – 8:00 AM departure
Find your wild on this 35.2-mile ride through parks, neighborhoods, bikeways, and trail segments that make up the vision for the CROWN—a more connected Cincinnati, powered by Great Parks of Hamilton County. This route offers a front-row seat to the progress already made and the work still ahead, with several on-road sections where trails are still under development.
  • The Fifty West Half CROWN (17.5 mi) – 9:00 AM departure
Expand your range and explore parts of the CROWN you may have never seen before. This ride takes you along some of the most well-loved trails in the region, including the Little Miami Scenic Trail, Lunken Airport Loop, Delta Avenue Bikeway, Wasson Way, and Murray Path. The Half CROWN route primarily follows trails and bikeways, but there are some on-road sections where the CROWN is still in progress.
  • Tour de CROWN Beechmont Connector Ride (8.5 mi) – 9:30 AM departure
Whether you’re new to biking, riding with family, or simply savoring the ride, this scenic route along the Little Miami Scenic Trail offers a welcoming way to experience the CROWN. You’ll pedal to the Beechmont Bridge Connector—a key link made possible by Great Parks—then cruise back to Fifty West Brewing Company, where the Tour de CROWN Expo will be buzzing with live music, food, drinks, and celebration.

Getting to the Start Line

The Tour de CROWN begins and ends at Fifty West Brewing Company, and there are multiple ways to arrive:

  • Driving? Check out our parking map here for convenient options near the venue. Want to add a few miles to your ride? Consider parking farther away and biking to the start—it’s a great way to warm up and skip the crowds.
  • Ride from home if you’re nearby—biking to the event is all part of the adventure and a great way to reduce traffic and parking needs.
  • Go multi-modal by combining your bike with Metro, SORTA, or a carpool. There are lots of creative ways to roll into the ride!

Know Where to Stop

Restrooms will be open at Fifty West Brewing Company before and after your ride. If you’re riding the 34-mile route, you’ll also find bathroom access along the way at:

  • Schmidt Boat Ramp
  • Sawyer Point
  • Porta-john at Evan’s Field

Water stations—thanks to Cincinnati Water Works—can be found at:

  • Beechmont Bridge Connector
  • Schmit Boat Ramp
  • Sawyer Point near the Purple People Bridge
  • Valley Park in Camp Washington
  • Wasson Way at Hyde Park Avenue

Finish with a Party

When you make it back to Fifty West, celebrate your ride with a cold beverage, a burger, and high-fives all around. The Tour de CROWN Expo is open to the public, so if you’ve got a cheering CROWN—friends, family, or supporters—invite them to join the fun! Learn more about the exhibitors here. We’ll have live music, on-site t-shirt screen printing, a fun photo booth, vendors, and the kind of trail-loving community that makes the Tour de CROWN so special.
