The Low-Stress Bike Map is your bike commuting guide

Tuesday, June 7, 2022 by Caitlin Sparks

With gas prices rising over $5 a gallon, now is the perfect time to try commuting by bike.  Many of your trips are probably within 1-3 miles and can be easily replaced by biking.  While we’re advocating for a more connected trail and bikeway network, it’s important to remember that you can still bike safely in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s urban core today.  The best way to avoid traffic is to avoid busy streets–which is why we created our Low-Stress Bike Map!

With help from over 50 avid cyclists from around Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, Tri-State Trails created the first edition of the Low Stress Bike Map in 2020. We asked cyclists and active commuters where they experienced the most comfortable routes, the most difficult routes, and what routes they’d recommend for beginners and experienced commuters alike. The hand picked routes included in the Low-Stress Bike Map have helped many take a confident first step out the front door feeling more prepared for their next active commute or bike ride.

On May 20, 2022 at the 13th annual Breakfast on the Bridge we released the second edition of our Low Stress Bike Map. Informed by our active transportation pros, the updated Low-Stress Bike map features new and improved low-stress and high-stress routes, updated active transit infrastructure, and a fresh design that makes the map easier to read.
