Gearing Up For #BikeMonth

May is National Bike Month! Celebrated nationally since 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to give biking a try. 

All month long we’ll be highlighting ways you can celebrate #BikeMonth locally. Whether you’re riding for fun, fitness or with family, or taking essential trips to work or shop, you are part of a movement for safer streets, connected communities, a healthier planet, and happier people.  

Start gearing-up for #BikeMonth now by marking your calendars with these signature NKY/Cincinnati Bike Month events.


National Ride a Bike Day
May 1, 2022
We believe life is better for everyone when more people ride bikes. Let’s use the first Sunday of Bike Month to ride bikes together, wherever you are and at your own pace, to take part in a collective action and kick start making life better for everyone. 

Bicycling Through Paradise Book Launch

Bike to Work Week
May 16-22, 2022
May is National Bike Month, a celebration of biking as transportation, as recreation, as essential to our well-being and everyday lives. Biking is a healthy and fun commuting option for many people. Make plans now for your Bike to Work Week. Consider a multimodal approach using METRO or TANK or invite your colleagues and friends to join you on your commute.

13th annual Breakfast on the Bridge

You’re invited to the 13th annual Breakfast on the Bridge! Celebrate #BikeMonth and National Bike to Work Day on our most frequently used trail, the Purple People Bridge! Breakfast on the Bridge is the signature event in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s Bike Month tradition. First-timers, casual riders, and die-hard commuters are all welcome to enjoy free coffee and breakfast fare elevated over the Ohio River.

Green Drinks: Bike to Work Day Happy Hour
Friday May 20 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Newport on the Levee Bridgeview Box Park
1 Levee Way, Bridgeview Box Park, Newport, KY 41071
Celebrate bike month with an evening with big river views, live music, and cycling camaraderie!
The fun starts at 5:00 pm. We’ll meet at the Bridgeview Box Park at Newport on the Levee and embark on a short guided bike ride to the KY 8 Licking River Bridge for a discussion about future pedestrian and cycling infrastructure in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. From 6:00-8:00 PM Enjoy drinks and networking and Cheers to Trails with a refreshing West 6th beer at Bridgeview Box Park to celebrate #BikeMonth and National Bike to Work Day. One dollar from every West 6th beer sold will be funds raised to support our regional Pop-Up Bike Shops!
