Celebrate Bike Month at these upcoming events

Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of cycling and encourage more folks to give it a try. Whether you’re riding for fun, fitness, with friends, or taking essential trips to work or shop, you are part of a movement for safer streets, connected communities, and a healthier planet. Start gearing-up for Bike Month and the rest of the cycling season now by marking your calendars with these upcoming events and group rides where you’ll find a welcoming community and helpful resources.


WVXU Cincinnati Edition discusses Bike Month!
Thursday, May 11, 12:00-1:00pm

Tune into Cincinnati Edition on WVXU 9.17 from noon to 1:00pm for a special Bike Month episode. In the first half spokespeople with Tri-State Trails, Red Bike, and MoBo Bicycle Co-op will share news about local cycling events, trail and bike share expansions, and programs for cyclists of all ages and abilities. In the second half representatives from All Bodies on Bikes and local advocates will discuss the growing movement to create and foster a size inclusive bike community.


Beer For Humans feat. Tri-State Trails

Tri-State Trails is one of Rhinegeist’s featured nonprofits for Beer for Humans (formerly Charitable Suds) during National Bike to Work Week! Join us for this Bike Month pint night and learn more about our active transportation community. Be there at 6:30pm for the big group photo!


Breakfast on the Bridge
Friday, May 19, 7:00-9:00am
Purple People Bridge, 1 Levee Wy, Newport, KY

Celebrate Bike Month on our most frequently used trail, the Purple People Bridge! Hosted by Tri-State Trails, Breakfast on the Bridge is the signature event in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Bike Month tradition. First-timers, casual riders, and active commuters are all invited to the Newport side of the Purple People Bridge to enjoy free coffee and local breakfast fare with a side of cycling camaraderie. Presented by Great Parks of Hamilton County and Cincinnati Metro.


Miami 2 Miami Trail Grand Opening
Friday, May 19, 4:00-5:00pm
Gilmore MetroPark, 8300 Bilstein Blvd. Hamilton, OH

Join MetroParks of Butler County in Hamilton, Ohio for the grand opening of the Miami 2 Miami Trail at Gilmore MetroPark. Experienced bikers are also invited meet at Municipal Brew Works between 3:00-3:15pm to join a group bike ride to the trail opening at Gilmore MetroPark.


Bike Month Bingo
Wednesday, May 24, 6:00-8:00pm
Bridgeview Box Park at Newport on the Levee
1 Levee Wy, Newport, KY 41071

Grab your friends and family and join us for a fun night playing bingo in support of Tri-State Trails. We’ll play traditional bingo and our ‘spoke card’ bingo. Complete your spoke card by trying new activities and using local trails during Bike Month. Bring your finished (four across or diagonal) spoke card to our bingo night at Newport on the Levee and receive a Tri-State Trails bike bell and the 3rd edition of the Low Stress Bike Map. Collect the final ‘cover-all’ spoke card activity by walking or riding your bike to the event wearing your most colorful bike themed garb. Traditional bingo and spoke card cover-all winners will be entered into raffles for great prizes like Red Bike passes, bike tools, Tri-State Trails merchandise, and more!


Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit
Friday, May 12, 8:00am-6:00pm
Duke Energy Convention Center, 525 Elm St, Cincinnati OH, 45202

Tri-State Trails joins Green Umbrella at the Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit to discuss Reimagining the Civic Commons and new opportunities for placemaking corridors. Reimagining the Civic Commons allow residents from diverse neighborhoods to collectively meet their needs for safe active transportation, clean air, water, food, and most importantly–a sense of community. Come learn how investment in transformative public spaces can connect people of all backgrounds, cultivate trust, and create more resilient communities. As part of this workshop, participants can also experience potential northern Kentucky bike infrastructure with a VR (Virtual Reality) exhibit!
