Breakfast on the Bridge Returns for 16th Year to Celebrate National Bike to Work Day
Monday, May 12, 2025 by Caitlin Sparks
Friday, May 16, 2025 | 7:00 – 9:00 AM | Purple People Bridge, Newport, KY
Tri-State Trails and presenting sponsor, Cincinnati Metro, invite the Greater Cincinnati region to celebrate National Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day with the 16th Annual Breakfast on the Bridge, a signature Bike Month celebration taking place on the Newport side of the Purple People Bridge. From 7:00 to 9:00 AM on Friday, May 16, commuters, walkers, and bicyclists of all kinds are invited to enjoy complimentary coffee, local pastries, and a morning filled with community and connection.
This year’s event also features a major announcement from Cincy Red Bike, Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s bike share system. The public is invited to gather around 8:45 AM to hear exciting news about Red Bike’s next chapter and their continued work to expand mobility access across the region.
All are welcome—whether you’re a veteran bike commuter or curious about active transportation. Visitors are encouraged to ride in or use the FREE FARE option available all day to riders who bring their bike on Metro or TANK buses. Curious about how to load your bike on a bus? Stop by the Metro and TANK demo bike rack at the event to give it a try.
“Breakfast on the Bridge brings together everyone who believes our streets and public spaces should be safe, welcoming, and connected for all,” said Wade Johnston, Executive Director of Tri-State Trails. “It’s a joyful morning that reminds us what’s possible when we prioritize people—whether they’re biking, walking, or riding the bus.”
