May We Say It Again? Best Bike Month Yet!

Tuesday, June 17, 2025 by Caitlin Sparks

We said it last year, and we’re proud to say it again—this was our best Bike Month yet. May 2025 has been a season of milestones, momentum, and meaningful connections, and we’re still riding the high from the incredible energy our community brought to the streets, trails, and public spaces across the region.

We kicked things off in spectacular fashion with our biggest Breakfast on the Bridge ever. Over 250 people showed up bright and early to connect with 23 vibrant vendors, sip hot coffee, enjoy fresh pastries and Belgian waffles, and hear a major announcement from Red Bike that lit up the crowd. We were honored by the presence of supportive elected officials, whose participation signaled growing momentum for safe, connected transportation infrastructure in Greater Cincinnati.

Wasson Way Phase 6B Ribbon Cutting

On the ground, trail progress continues to move forward. We marked a significant milestone with the ribbon cutting for Wasson Way Phase 6B, now officially open and featuring a signalized crosswalk at Montgomery Road. This crucial connection point makes our region’s trail network more seamless and safer for all users. It’s the kind of infrastructure improvement that represents our broader vision for the CROWN: accessible, low-stress, and linked to places people want to go.

A More Inclusive Low-Stress Bike Map

That vision also came to life in another key milestone: the release of the fifth edition of our Low-Stress Bike Map, now available in French and Spanish. This map helps people of all skill levels navigate their communities by bicycle. If you haven’t checked it out yet, this article breaks down how we’re working to create more inclusive and empowering tools.

Cycle Through – Art of the Bicycle

The excitement didn’t stop there. We partnered with the Cincinnati Art Museum to share the Tri-State Trails mission alongside our community partners during the Cycle Through – Art of the Bicycle exhibition. As bike culture continues to grow across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, the exhibit invites visitors to reflect on the bicycle as a symbol of freedom, connection, and movement. It explores how bikes have shaped women’s liberation, working-class mobility, and personal expression—and how they continue to bring joy and autonomy to people of all ages. Cycle Through – Art of the Bicycle is on view through August 24, 2025—don’t miss it!

Red Bike Announces Strengthen & Sustain Plan

One of the most energizing moments of the month was the Red Bike announcement at Breakfast on the Bridge. A year after the community rallied to keep the system afloat, Red Bike has secured a powerful new “Strengthen and Sustain” plan—backed by over a dozen partners and key stakeholders from both sides of the river. This new three-year strategy and governance restructure positions the Cincy region’s nonprofit bikeshare system for long-term success.

“We have seen the community emphatically say that shared micromobility is an important service in our region,” said Red Bike Executive Director Doug McClintock. “It provides critical transportation and first/last mile connections for residents and visitors alike. I look forward to rolling my sleeves up and getting to work with our new board members to chart the course for the years to come.”

The Ride of the Summer: Tour de CROWN 2025

Tour de CROWN 2025 Event Logo

With the energy of Bike Month still buzzing and the year already halfway through, we’re shifting into high gear for what’s next—the third annual Tour de CROWN. After two years of growth and momentum, 2025 is shaping up to be our biggest and best ride yet. If you joined us in 2023 or 2024, we can’t wait to welcome you back. And if you’ve been cheering from the sidelines, this is your year to ride. Now’s the time to register, rally your riding buddies, and lock in your spot for the ride of the summer.

Powered by Community, Connected by Trails

Thank you for being part of this movement. Every mile you ride and every connection you make brings us closer to a future that’s more connected, more joyful, and more vibrant—one trail at a time. We’re especially grateful to the many community members who have shared their local knowledge to help shape our Low-Stress Bike Map. Your insights have been invaluable in identifying the safest, most comfortable routes across our region. And to the incredible volunteers who show up for our community events and the Tour de CROWN—thank you. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm keep this work in motion. It truly takes a village, and we’re so grateful you’re part of ours.
