Upcoming Summit aims to connect region

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 by Caitlin Sparks

You are invited to the 6th bi-annual Tri-State Trails Summit. This year’s event will be held at Northern Kentucky University in the Student Union Ballroom on November 10, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

With a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure federal infrastructure dollars, the steps our local governments take today can position our trail and bikeway network to be connected, accessible, and world class. Our keynote address will highlight the success of Bentonville, Arkansas, an international trail destination and the home of Walmart. Kalene Griffith, President of Visit Bentonville, and David Wright, Director of Bentonville Parks & Recreation, will join us to share the story of how Northwest Arkansas built a braided trail network of linear mountain bike trails anchored by the Razorback Greenway–spanning over 250 miles.

As part of the agenda for this year’s summit, we are focusing attention on: i) attracting federal infrastructure dollars to our region for multi-modal projects; ii) trail-building best practices; and iii) expanding the vision for a connected Northern Kentucky trail and bikeway network.

Participants will learn firsthand how Tri-State Trails and partners are working to connect our region. The Summit is an excellent occasion to network with trail planners, land managers, advocates, and community members who collaborate with Tri-State Trails to ensure that all people in the tri-state, now and in the future, have the opportunity to travel and explore safely, comfortably, and freely.
